Dear Ruth and family So sorry to hear this sad news of Duncan. We first met back in the late 1970s in work on the Balance of Care model when he was instrumental in its evolution from a rather technocratic national focus to a practical application for more local use - as set out in the seminal 1980s book " Operational Research Applied to Health Services" that he conceived and edited. That, and of course the ORAHS Working Group itself, will be part of his considerable professional legacy. Duncan had such an outgoing attitude to people, work and indeed life.
